Paul Davies, Labour's Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Colne Valley, enjoying a coffee in Holmfirth

I moved to Holmfirth 14 years ago with my family and have made the Colne Valley constituency my home. In recent years, I have had the privilege of serving as a parish councillor and as a councillor for Holme Valley South. I have also had the honour of serving as the lead councillor for the environment and fighting the cost of living crisis, introducing affordable food hubs across the district, introducing warm welcome spaces in our libraries, and developing a climate change action plan.

I grew up in the mining village of Caerau, Wales, and began my career as a coal face electrician. My upbringing taught my the values of hard work and solidarity, and I was lucky to attend Ruskin College, Oxford, on a trade union bursary and later Cardiff University before beginning a career in HR and operations management.

My experiences have given me all the tools an MP needs to represent our communities and fight for a better deal for working people. From the mining village of Caerau to being an Operations Director for a Global IT company to a teacher in Linthwaite, I have had a long and varied career which has taken me all over the world. I’m proud of our home and I want it to be the best it can be. That’s why I’m standing to be the next Member of Parliament for Holme and Colne Valleys and Lindley.
